Thanks for any answers.
Manuel
I have palyed in both, and the Win '95 is much better: better user
interface (saves, prefs, etc.) smoother sound transistions, and
better looking text messages. I saw no improvements in using dos over
'95, but I am keeping the dos version on my drive just in case.... Oh
the pleasures of a 1G drive - from a former hardware jock that used to
sell 10MB drives for $1,099!

Well, I wanted to play it under Windows 95, but I am doomed to own
a fu**ing
DIAMOND STEALTH 3000 VIDEO CARD!!!
This card has caused me lots of problems. Like it can't run Xwindows...
According to the readme file, I have to reply NO to the question whether
I want to install DirectX drivers or not, because, according to Diamond,
my card can manage DirectX. After doing so, when I try to start the game,
I get the message:
Display Driver not Windows 95 compatible.
I have the newest drivers for win 95 from the Diamond web-page.
Can anyone give me a clue?
Thanks very much in advance,
Mehmet.

Just from reading your post, it sounds to me
like you need to definitely install DirectX
when prompted.

Hi,
Let me tell you what I've done so far. I also have Spycraft, but the same story goes for Zork. I've tried to install both games under windows 95.
Attempt 1:
- Install Zork/Spycraft (ZS in the future)
- Reply NO to the question to install Direct X drivers
- Result when starting the game:
Display Driver not Windows 95 compatible.
- Uninstall the game. Delete everything.
Attempt 2:
- Install ZS
- Reply YES to the question to install Direct X drivers
- It finds Direct X drivers on my harddisk, but it doesn't
recognize it. Question prompted: Do you want to replace it?
- Answer: Yes
- After installation, I have been asked to restart my computer,
Reply is Yes.
- Computer hangs.
- I give the cold boot.
- Windows 95 starts 1024/768 INTERLACED mode (it was non-int before)
- Start the game (just to test it)
- Result:
Display Driver not Windows 95 compatible.
Error code BLABLABLA
(sometimes: Fatal error, blue screen)
- Result of result: win 95 starts in SAFE mode.
Further, I delete everythinig and reinstall the newest Diamond Stealth
drivers. Just to check whether I am using the right drivers, I right clicked
on my Desktop and pressed the tab Information:
4.21 display driver
4.125 in control tools
To summarize: I am clueless!
