Does anyone know how to quit this game besides using ctrl alt del. I've
looked thru the manual and found information about every other function
but this one. I am at the beginning of the game (have solved a couple of
puzzles) so perhaps the quit function may show up later?? Any help
would be appreciated. And before anyone asks, this is a legitimate copy
of the game (not pirated or downloaded abandonware).

Ctrl-C is the correct standard. Try it too.
