The last adventure game I played that I really enjoyed was Curse
of Monkey Island. Are there any current games along the same line? I
detest Myst and Seventh Guest type games - I want more than a pretty
slide show or lame puzzles. I like the more traditional games that
involve dialogue and inventory puzzles. Starship Titanic sounds
intriguing but it sounds like it may play like Myst. What about Black
Dahlia? Another game I am interested in is Overseer but I am waiting for
a 3d patch to make it playable on a P233mmx (I dont consider
jerk-o-vision at 5-10 fps playable).
Seems like the days of good adventure games is over. I used to
play every adventure game available. Lately, I have been lucky to find
more than 1 good game to play a year. Last year, CMI and Twinsen's
Odyssey were the only decent games and Twinsen Odyssey wasnt even a pure
adventure game. Blade Runner was a huge disappoinment. Sigh.

Black Dahlia is very good - much better than Overseer, even if you DO
have a ninja PC system. There are some promising adventures on the
horizon, the most eagerly awaited would be Lucasarts' Grim Fandango.
Keep an eye out, too, for a couple of games later in the year from a
developer called Project Two. Their oddly-titled Reah (a 1st-person
game) and Liath (a 3rd-person game) look extremely good even at this
early stage.
As for games already released, did you check out The Last Express or
either Broken Sword games? These are determinedly anti-Myst style games.
For me, The Last Express WAS the adventure of 97.

I loved Twinsen too, and I agree with you, I am tired of that Riven, Myst
clone crap. Check out Dark Earth, that is an adventure action game which I
really liked, great graphics and good puzzles.

Also from last year is Zork: Grand Inquisitor, which is an excellent
game. Unfortunately it is a bit on the easy side and too short. Do not
miss it.

I don't of hand know of any 'current' game on those liners but if you
can get hold of it Touche is very similar in look and feel to the
Monkey Island games [well the first two anyway :-)]

Oh I don't know. I liked Rama, Lighthouse and Broken Sword 2 to name
but three.
