Yes, I know the walkthrough says "Go to Nyx 1".

Well, there's a way in SC3 to find a specific star, and
my SC3 game has NO star named Nyx! You take off all the
labels, and then type "NYX"--without the quotes--in the
input area, and NO labels saying "Nyx" pop up on my starmap!

Did I get some version of SC3 wherein Accolade, having
read the walkthrough themselves, decided to change the
name of the Nyx system just to piss people off?

I've tried hunting through the entire starmap and I can't
seem to find the QuasiSpace portal to the Orz! The ICOM
keeps yelling at me to find the ORz, and there doesn't
seem to be any way to find them!

They're in the 'Able.

Sorry. Bad joke.

You need to go to Nyx through QPortal M but I don't think it's available to
you right at the start. IIRC you need to ask the Syreene/Syreen - however
the hell you spell it - before they'll show up.

That's because no such star is on your map at the moment. There are
many such systems that appear on the map only after you find out about
them. Trying to go there before that is futile.

SC3 has many timed and triggered events, but not all of them interact
well. ICOM, for example, expects them to happen in a certain order.
If they do not, the game is still playable, but confusing, especially
for a newcomer.

In this case, you'll have to wait for the Eltanin (?) system to
collapse, then Nyx (Q-Space Portal M) becomes visible. Patience is
a virtue in SC3. Explore, colonize, built up fuel and ships - or
just wait, with your game time slider cranked up to full. SC3 has
no deadlines, unlike SC2.
