Well, if you glance through the booklet that comes with it, you'll find it
plainly states that you can skip animations by pressing the space bar.

(But its so much more fun to have answers automatically appear off the
internet than it is to read boring manuals :-).

Of course. All you need to do is to press Ctrl+Space on the opening
screen (before you click on "Play Riven") and select Open from the File
menu.

Don't make fun of him. The fact is that spacebar thing doesn't work for
everyone. I tried and tried but it won't work on my machine.

You can also go straight to your game by clicking on your saved game title
in the Riven folder (or wherever you have it saved).

Pressing the space bar will jump to the end of *any* video
sequence in the game. Revolving walls, opening credits, etc.
