According to the Clue Book. This is the hard puzzle to solve. The
cluebook
does not even give you a solution. I have heard of some people beating
the
puzzle. I, myself skipped this puzzle.

Okay, okay. I have it....but if you really want to see it, first tell
me the speed of your computer as the solutions I have, as they will
only work on a DX66 and DX33 speed computer.

My mail address is dan...@msn.com

- Regards, Daniel.

The best way to beat the Microscope game is to write a program to play
against it. It only takes an Alpha-Beta pruning, 4ply algorithm to do it ;-).

I don't want to rile people up, but apparently I lucked out
and beat the microscope puzzle on the second try. Unofrtunately,
since I didn't get stuck, I never bothered to scribe my moves.

I do recall that my main aim was to extend a pseudopod of sorts
into the bottom half and try to trick my opponet into over
extending himself. Sort of divide and conquer. Maybe the AI
was feeling sickly on my computer, but I did beat teh puzzle twice
using that ' strategy '. Kind of vague, I know. I had to
repeat the game once due to other problems.

So, you might want to try to get teh opponent to split himself
up as much as possible, while remaining safe and sound on the other
side. Then tempt him into splitting offby throwing out a
probe at the original mass in the corner.

I'm getting the game back from a friend soon. I'll retry that
puzzle and see if I can duplicate teh moves and get them down.
Of course, there may be random factors that could screw that up.

There already is a documented list of moves to make to beat the microscope puzzle.
It's at one of the 7th Guest Home Pages (I forget which one). It has a separate list
for 486-33 and 486-66 machines. Coincedentally, I have a P-90 and the 486-66 solution
worked!

I need the solution to the Microscope before I go completely berzerk
and get out the AK-47 and ..... Well, not really that bad. But if can
sent me any information via e-mail, I'd much appreciate it.
Thanks.

Now we don't want you to go crazy, so here's the solution as I
received it from Daniel.

There are 2 solutions, one for DX66 and one for DX33.
The reasdon why it only works on these configurations is that
the AI (Artificial INTELligence) works different on different
computers.
Here's the solution for the DX33

>>>
Finally, here is the solution to the Microscope puzzle in the 7th Guest.
I downloaded it from the Virgin Interactive BBS (PH: 714-8333303).

Thanks must go to:

There is no single solution, it's a game that you have to win. If you're
having trouble, read the hint book in the library once; that should
dumb-down the computer's AI a little. If you still can't manage it, just
let the hint book win the game for you.
