Twinsen's Odyssey Green Lightning Ring: Help!

I'm trying to get Cendal's ball with the green lightning ring,
but I can't figure out how to use it.

Can anyone, please, help?

Okay, I am assuming that you used the pyramid key in the sewer to open
the hidden door to the room holding Sendell's ball. Make sure you
have a full charge of magic, you need it all to use the Ring of
Lightning. Stand next to the ball and select the Ring of Lightning in
the inventory. That's it.

Make sure you haven't used the ring beforehand! It will have a red x in
it if you have. Just walk in the room with the ball and use it.
