Stuck Monkey Island 2

I playing the hard version of Monkey Island 2. I am stuck in the
cottage of off Phatt Island. I cant get the trap door open.
"It wont budge", Guybrush says. I cant win the drinking contest
with the old man. I keep pouring the grog into the tree but
he always gives me more. Also I have used the telescope with
the mirror to bounce light off the back wall but nothing
happens.

Any help would be great.

You need to open the window for the light to reflect on the wall.
Push on the brick wall after the light has hit it.

As far as winning the drinking contest you need to put the near-grog
in your glass(which you first empty into the tree). You get the near-
grog from the envelope of Kate.

SPOILER ALERT !!!!!!!!!!

Put Captain Kate's leaflet on your wanted poster. When she's arrested
enter the jail, free her then take her envelope. Open the envelope for
some near grog. Put that in the mug after you water the tree. Buy the sign
in the shop and put the parrot food bag on the hook. Buy the mirror. Steal
the governer's oar and use it with the peg to climb up the big tree, when
it breaks take it to the carpenter. Try again, take the telescope up the
top. Open the shutters in the cottage, put the mirror on the wall, put the
telescope in the statue's hand outside. Push the marked brick.
