Which difficulty should I use in Blade Runner? Real-time?

I just received blade runner in the mail but have a few questions
before I start. Please don't SPOIL anything for me.

1) Which difficulty should I use for the game? I want it to last as
long as possible, but I was wondering if hard is ridiculously hard. If
it's any indication, I beat Act III and III+ of monkey island 4 in a
day ( I can't vouch for the rest because I used a walkthrough). I don't
want to use a walkthrough for blade runner.

2) Can someone please explain to me what the real-time aspect of blade
runner is like? Are other agents really going to steal my clues and
stuff or can I spend a really long time enjoying the scenery and
looking for clues?

The difficulty settings mostly aplys to the arcade-sequences, how much
ammo you got and how hard the enemies is to kill.

I didn't think i was "real-time". The course of the game is rather
altered by your actions, what clues you find and how you treat the
characters you meet. Some character may or may not appear at some
times, but that doen't make it real-time.

About the real-time, I guess it might not be real time. They just say
THE FIRST REAL-TIME 3D GAME! on the box. It doesn't seems all that 3d
to me, so it's not surprising if it weren't real-time either. I prefer
it not be real time.

Could I ask you for another tip?
(no spoilers please). The manual says I should pay attention to my dog
and sleep enough. But I don't even know what time it is! Is there a way
to tell time or to tell if you need sleep?

Also, i was wondering if it was my computer or the game where it takes
45 minutes to get throught the combat course. I really like the game
but that combat course was SO boring! You can wait up to three minutes
for an enemy to appear at times. Again, 45 minutes is just so long for
a action sequence.

It's the 3d that's real time - not the game. It's still not the first:
See the "Games that use Grim Fandango engine" thread.

I don't know. I just fed the dog once in a while, and slept a coulpe of
times when I was stuck. I only remember one time something actually
happened in the morning, though.

It probably is true. I never waited out all enemies on that course (and
got lousy scores).

That's the quick-draw, shoot only the bad guys, test at the police
station,
right? That didn't seem to take so long on my P-100, and my score was
moderate.

However, i had been playing Twinsen's Odyssey, which requires
considerable
accuracy with various bizarre weapons on many occasions.

I have a Pentium III 700Mhz and it took 45 minutes, but it seems like
there's something buggy about it because it is awfully boring.

Is there anyway to tell time in the game?

I dont't think you can check the time, at least I don't remember doing
it, and I've played the game a couple of times (to get all the
different endings).

I have. Barely. Her score is only a few points shy of perfect, so it's
damn tough. Basically, you screw up more than once and you aren't going
to beat her.

I beat her score once. It didn't seem to do anything (I thought it might
trigger some kind of confrontation with her, and I would get some new
info/leads out of it, but nothing happened). It was pretty satisfying
knowing that I beat her, but nothing else besides that happened. Great game,
though. I thought it was great when it came out (and paid full price for it,
even, a then it went to like $20 a few weeks later), and I still think it's
great.

It's been a long time since I played it, but as I recall there is no
way to tell when you need to sleep. If you can't find anything else to
do (use computer, check phone messages, visit locations, ect) then you
sleep and when you wake up there is more stuff to do.
I think the dog is just to add some atmsophere. (you're not just a
cold blooded replicant terminator)
