I bought Gigaworks THX S750 with a nice sound card, got to enjoy it long
enough till I almost had it calibrated....then...pfitttt!, amp gone (like
sooooo many other 750's).
Bought a Logitech X-540 5.1, it was Okay, but packed it back up for resale.
I have looked at amplifiers (7.1) that I could hook my speakers from the THX
S750, but always worried how to hook up the (big woofer) (should I take out
the circuit boards and hook the output directly to the woofers +
and -???...plus, would it sound good....
I even thought of buying the Logitech X-5300e ($120-$180)...
I play a lot of "adventure games" I don't even know if any of them support
7.1, but I have Flight simulator X, bioshock, Rome, Brothers in arms, and am
willing to buy 7.1 games to "experience" this experience!!!
Can anyone suggest a complete speaker system and card or something to
complement what I already own
Thanks,
Joe
No adventure game I've played has used anything beyond basic "I have a
set of stereo headphones" sound.

Well, I recall the Dreamfall developers were bragging about it having
7.1 sound if you had the hardware, but I personally have no experience
of that game yet. :)
I have the older Logitech X-530 5.1 set, and the games that support
5.1, *really* sound great. Such games are mostly of the FPS variety,
seeing the 3D environment lends itself to stuff happening behind you,
and thus being encircled in sound. It can be surprising how much that
adds to the experience - I myself would never go back to 2 speakers
ever again. (Although I do still use earphones on occasion of people
trying to get sleep :-D )
