I hate playing Bully

Half a year (or maybe a year) ago, I bought Bully: Scholarship Edition
(PC) following the excited reviews and everyone's advice of it as a
must-have game. Well, I hate it, and I could only make 1:40 hours into
the game.

Why is everything so difficult ? In order to complete a mission, I
have to redo it 5-10 times. Every time I get busted by the prefects or
such thing. I have never completed the classes -- they are too
difficult for me, especially those "button mash fests". I have to
restart the mission and get through the tedious process (3 minutes) of
running, dodging and fighting, get a mission and then either run out
of time or get caught by prefect, and start it all over again !

For example, now I stuck with the mission "That Bitch". I have to go
to the girls' gym, get into Mandy's locker, and get the notes back. I
do this, and get caught by the prefects. I am not agile for this kind
of game, it seems to me. This mashfest is probably a delight fot a
younger enthusiast, but not for me ! I tried to decrease game
difficulty, but the game seems to have only one, default difficulty. I
tried to find the cheat codes on the Internet, but they do not exist
as a class ! I could find only useless walkthrough. It is useless,
because it says: "Go there and do this, and you get X", and when I am
doing it, I invariably get caught or run out of time !

After not touching the game for half a year, I eventually decided to
give it a go, and it did not go again ! I am in desperation. I usually
carefully choose my games, and then finish them, even if they become a
little boring, in order to have a feeling of accomplishement. But I
cannot finish this game, because I get constantly stuck ! I am a hair
away from throwing the jewel case with a DVD, map and manual in mint
condition away !

Anybody can help me ?

What does your Trouble Meter look like, how full is it? Perhaps the
'Strategy Guide' listed here would help, especially sections 12 thru
16:

Little hint: Start the quest and then hide inside a bin. Wait until the
prefs are away again and you've got much more time to pick the lock.

Thanks for the tip; I was able to get through the mission after only
two or three trials. The guide said I have to hide behind the lockers
when the prefect is coming; who would've thought !

Anyway, the game is difficult to play, and I do not receive enough of
why I started to play this game -- violence !

A game like that, I'd be supremely pissed if I couldn't get the
prefect in a worse way than the prefect could get me. Like in real
life. Like, plant a few bags of crack in his locker, then manipulate
it so there's a surprise locker inspection.

Tho' that kind of game might become more controversial than the usual
violence-in-videogames mantra...

I must have missed the excited reviews and everyone's advice...

For the life of me I just cannot understand the attraction in "games"
like "Bully".

Nothing beats "Spore" for epitomising crass pointlessness though. The
word "devoid" was surely formed with that game in mind. If there is
ever an "Idiocracy 2" movie the opening scene will surely depict the
world's flab ridden population plugged into interactive arm chairs
staring blankly and drooling as they aimlessly wave "nunchucks" at
giant screens showing "Spore".

The really smart people with IQ's higher than 5 but less than 20 will
be seen playing "Bully".

Your read it here first.

So you have no problem with the gameplay mechanics and implementation,
you only have the problem with the content ? ("Who in his right mind
would've want to bash thy neighbour ?") (Well, I, to gein with, and I
am not ashamed of it. That's actually what gets me sustained in this
difficult world.)

My advice would be sell the game and go get some real life counselling.

It was less than half a year.

I'm actually enjoying the game. It's a nice distraction from all the
zombies, aliens, and nazis I've been killing lately. And who doesn't
like kissing fat girls?

Also, I really like Art class. ;-)

Bully is a fun game and I'm anything but a young twitch-based gamer
(old-school crpg's are my main type of game). For probably around
half of the missions I had to redo them at least once to get through
and some of them took me a half-dozen or more tries but I enjoyed the
atmosphere, content, story, etc. After playing Bully -- a big
branching out for me compared to Mass Effect, etc. -- I moved on to
harder stuff GTA 4, Saints Row, and The Godfather and enjoyed all of
them a whole lot. Bully felt like a grade school version of the other
games.
