I'd appreciate any input on this.
Big guess on this, but I'd think EA is looking for the CD in the
drive-tray, and is scanning the drive during the update (going to
extremes with copy-protection).
Manual keyword copy-protection..., so simple and it worked, what a
concept, and we used to complain about that.
It's too bad most games have little or no manual, or the printing is
sloppy, and so cheap it looks like the paper came from an
old-fashioned fax machine. And the print font is so..., "tiny" :).
To be Frank, I bet it'd take longer to scan/copy a 50 page manual,
compared to burning a CD or finding a regen key.
Its a glitch in the v1.11 patch.
I had the same issue.
Open up regedit.
Look for:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\EA GAMES\Medal of Honor Allied
Assault\1.1.12.200
If your number above is not 1.1.12.200 change it to that .
The patch will now work.
I'm not sure why some systems have the wrong key value there, but I
did a clean install of MOH and it seems it registered it wrong.
I was lucky someone else had the same issue and passed the fix on to
me.

I had the same issue. I had to uninstall MOHAA and reinstall it from
scratch. I installed right back to the same place it just was. (I keep my
games installed on my F: partition and not C:, btw). Then spearhead would
finally install itself. I was wondering if maybe my installing the
spearhead demo last week and then uninstalling it had screwed things up?
Excellent point!!
