Haven't had it randomly pop, but I have had the center channel mute to
nearly nothing. I'm running a 4.1 system too, but I've heard of the
problem happening in any system with multi-channel turned on.

Yes, uncheck the Multi-Channel Audio on the Config/Options and it should be
ok...

Of course, then you only have front speakers. :(
Thanks! That seems to have fixed the problem. I noticed it will only
be stereo. I guess that means I won't be getting four directional
sounds? Is that right since Multi-Channel is for 5.1 setup? :(

Sheesh does nobody read the readme anymore :)
NOTE: We recommend that you enable 'Multichannel Audio' from the
Options ONLY if you have a 5.1 speaker setup with a center
speaker.

Sure, but people with 5.1 systems have reported the same issue with
internal dialogue/headset dialog muting to nothing. Also, the whole
4.1/5.1 thing is virtualized by Windows. The center speaker should be
split between the two fronts. Basically, I think Remedy's full of it on
this one and managed to misimplement the feature somehow.
OK, then why have many speakers for home theater, movie theaters, etc.?
;)
No idea. Also why do you complain about 60Hz on you monitor when your eyes
can only see 24 fps. aND BTW HARDWARE 3d SUX.

I suspect they have a 5.1 system like mine which is designed for
Home Theatre not games playing. That's why I have a 4.1 setup
connected on the analogue connectors for gaming.
Try any game which uses some form of spatial placing and you
will find that on the 5.1 system the dialogue will fade out when
facing the character speaking face on. By turning to the side
(not an option in the Maz Payne cutscenes) then the sound is
placed 'correctly' for the ear turned towards it.
