I am trying to use INVADE1.WAD which apparently is the DOOM
WAD file for the Invasion level. When I start Doom using this
WAD, I get the following error message:

R_Init: Init DOOM refresh daemon.W_GetNumForName: PNAMES not found!

After the above error, Doom stops loading and I am returned
to the DOS prompt. What am I doing wrong here? It looks like I
am missing a file or two. Any help here is appreciated.
E-mail responses are welcome.

It is only because you do not have the registered version of DOOM!

I do have the registered version BUT (stupid me), I installed a shareware
version over it hence causing this PNAMES problem. Reinstall of
my registered version fixes me up. Thanks.

There are three files needed for invasion, invade1.wad,invgrfx1.wad, and invmusc1.wad. Just
type doom -file invade1.wad invgrfx1.wad invmusc1.wad.
If you want the demo, add -playdemo invdemo1 (it uses invdemo1.lmp, but don't include the extention).

Also, your particular error happened to me when I was using the shareware version. It works fine
on the registered version.
