I suspect you let the raider get away with one of your containers. If
that happens, I think the mission will be a failure. Note the color
coded mission goals in the goal MFD display.

I destroyed the cargo ferry, I'm sure of that. It took me a
little while to find, but I destroyed it. I suppose it may not count
the half stolen container as one of yours, but you still have to
inspect it anyway. I'm pretty sure I got it, though.
As for the MX300, there are the standard answers like updating
drivers and all that. Maybe check out Diamond's new beta drivers--then
again, if you have those, that might be the problem. I have the
original drivers that came out of the box and it works fine. I turned
on 3D audio for mine, and everything seems to run smoothly. Maybe you
may want to try Aureal's own drivers at http://www.a3d.com. I can't
really give an answer better than that, but since it was in the same
thread I decided to reply anyway. :)

Turn off the 3D sound and turn down the sound quality to Low or Normal
or whatever the lowest setting is. Don't know of a real fix for this.

This one gave me a lot of trouble, too. The trick is to be careful when
destroying the cargo ferry to not also accidentally destroy the container.
Make sure that you're shooting at the ferry from above, or there's a good
chance that you'll blow up the container.

Thanks for the suggestion, but already tried those. I'm ready to give
up on this card...

Sorry to hear it. Mine is still a no-go as well. I tried the newest S90
beta drivers from Diamond. Whoops! After rebooting, I couldn't even get
all the way back to the desktop (got a bluescreen right before the icons
showed up). Had to restart in Safe Mode, uninstall the drivers, reboot
and re-install the standard set from the CD-ROM. Ugly.
The troubleshooting list on Lucas Arts' page was no help. It looks just
like the readme that came with the demo. Oh well. A few people have had
this prob, so I guess I'll wait and see if Lucas Arts comes up with some
suggestions or a patch.

My MX-300 worked flawlessly with XWA (though I don't care much for the
game. Just another shooter IMHO). Do you have the LATEST drivers from
Diamond and/or Aureal??

The problem is NOT your card, most likely. The Vortex-2 based cards
are awesome. I have the Montego II, and it also does not produce
sound effects in XWA. However, for all other games (Unreal, Tribes,
Shogo, FreeSpace, you name it), it works fine. 3D sound works fine
EVERYWHERE except XWA. This is definitely an XWA issue; I simply
deleted the demo.

Yeah, I saw that. Thanks. I gotta get this game. :-) Enjoy!
I bought the game and it worked perfectly well in sound. I haven't analyzed
total sound, since I just popped in a multiplayer mission just to see the
Falcon in action, but as far as I could tell, I heard laser fire and
tie-fighters coming close by.
Amazing that it performed well at 1024x768 on a G200 with everything set to
high, now I gotta check the Voodoo2 SLI performance.
