Is a 1995 game called BIOFORGE, brought at the time
..sat in its wrapped box unopened to very recently...when I found to
be unplayable on XP or VISTA ...needs DOS or Win 95 .
No Bunny ever got it going on a current machine.

A post a few threads back from said it had been done
under DOSBOX ..
Soooo I set my self on a weary little-hope way to check this out...
My recent machines have just not got on at all well with DOSBOX...& God have
I tried
with various games.

Now here this link is a how to install BIOFORGE & Dosbox..all a Bunny needs
to
know ..all download links etc. inc. a copy of Bioforge.

Also here for needed info on setting the Sound options .

AND IT WORKS !!! (Big wow..only 13 years old after all)
I've already beaten up the 1st opponent in a few mins...took me hours to
originally.
This above link gives a technique with DOSBOX I've not seen before of
taking a copy
of the whole DOSBOX folder & renaming it to the same as the game to be
played
which is also where that game is installed.
Going to try this on other oldies now ..Now where that copy of STONEKEEP ?
(I real Dosbox challenger)

It's funny you mention Stonekeep - that's the game I've just installed
now (using with DosBox). Everything plays fine, except I'm having
stuttery sound, which I'm sure I can fix....
Don't forget to download the 1.2 patch for SK, you'll find it in
patches scrolls (obvious url)
Also, if you get stuck there's a Universal Game Editor module file
floating about on the net - lets you cheat with the stats!

interesting, what are your symptoms?

if you are stuck on the final install section with some screen saying
"validating" or something, then just sit back and relax - it takes a
good few minutes.

also, on the sound setup, the gravis stuff's a bit strange, so don't
auto detect sound, instead choose something basic like sb.

also, in dosbox config, do this-
autolock=false (change it from true)
this fixes a weird mouse glitch.

finally, at the very end of dosbox config file, i have this -

mount D D:\ -t cdrom
mount C C:\dosbox
c:
cd intrplay
stonkeep.bat

all it does is run SK, but it saves all typing!

when installing that 1.2 patch, i think you have to manually copy
around with where the files go or something, just take another look at
it and double check u got it right.

Praise De Sweet Lordy...I've just (finally..gasp!) got STONEKEEP
to work in XP.
Must have tried various installs 4 or more times & all the fiddling .
Any way seems the sound is fine with me..
This Install guide gives the sound setting for a DOSBOX install.

Thanks for your help cdr ..it really DOES take a long time for the File
Verify
last part of Install.
