Wow... thanks for the tip. You aren't kidding. In addition to the daily
deals, they have a total of about 800 games on sale! STALKER 1 is $2!!!

I would also highly recommend Ghostbusters for the price. I had a ton of fun
with that one.

Thanks for tipping me off. I checked -- GTA4 was US$13, and I wanted
to buy it (something to play over this festive season). When I came
back to computer in couple of hours, played TF2 for a while and when
logged out, they presented with the promotion pop-up window . They
gave even further discount ! GTA4 now was $7.50. That's cheap ! But
when I went to buy it, I discovered our local currency dropped by 8%
regarding the US dollar over the past week or so. That was an
unpleasant surprise !

But what's more, I tried to pay for the game by credit card and by
PayPal, and Steam kept rejecting it on the basis that my credit card
company rejected to goive the information ! (Or some such crap.) I
even called to my bank, and checked with them that there was no
restriction laid on my account. The operator even said that Steam
(Valve, actually) even did not try to contact and request the money !

Anyway, after 2 hours and around 50 trials, the payment went through.
What a relief.

I normally avoid buying games at Steam, but at the kind of ridiculous
prices some adventure games are going for, I don't see any reason not
to pick up few games. Some worth mentioning are:

Mirror's Edge - $5
Lucasarts Adventure Pack (Indy Jones LC and FoA, LOOM, DIG) $2.50
Ankh Pack (Ankh 2 and Ankh 3) $2.50
STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl $2
STALKER: Clear Sky $5
Lucasarts JediKnight Pack (All JK games starting from Dark Forces) $10
Trine $7.50
Torchlight $10
GTA4 $7.50
Defence Grid: Awakening $2.50
Oddworld Pack $2.50
Tales of Monkey Island Entire Season $25
Secret of Monkey Island SE $5
Runaway Road Adventure $5
Runaway 2 $7.50
Kings Quest Collection $5
Space Quest Collection $5
Indigo Prophecy $3.50
Beyond Good and Evil $5
Broken Sword Pack (2 and 3) $5
Chronicles of Riddick Assault on Dark Athena $6.50
Witcher Enhanced Edition $13.60
Unreal Pack (All Unreal games, except UT2003) $13.60
Braid $2.50
World of Goo $5

It just goes on and on.

I picked up Lucasarts adventure pack, Oddworld pack, jedi knight pack,
Ankh pack and Defence Grid for about $20 combined

I buy only the games which I will have played through with a
probability close to 100%. Otherwise, I do not buy the game however
good the bargain may look.

Know what you mean. That Foreign Legion game is supposedly crap too. All
I have in my basket so far are Ghostmasters and A Farewell To Dragons.
Ghostmasters is a must buy for $1.00 but not so sure about the Dragons
RPG at $14.99.

Never played the first STALKER. At $2, it's worth a check.

It certainly is. By quite some way too.

I have tried many times to get into Clear Sky and I just can't. Not in
the way that I did with Shadow of Chernobyl anyway.

I hope that Call of Pripyat is a lot more like the original game and a
lot less like the prequel.

It can be made much better with mods too. I use the 'STALKER Complete
2009' mod.

You can roam for ages and not spot anyone or anything.

Not that I know of, but both games have demos on Steam that are a
chunk of the start of the game - so what you play is what you'll be
buying.

I recently played a demo for Alien Breed HD, on the Xbox (a remake of
an amiga game of the same name) and it's uncanny how similar that felt
to Shadowgrounds.

Shadowground is quite a bit cheaper, though.

Cheers - that review just about says it all & Gamespot are usually very
forgiving/generous, being a payola site.
