GPGnet mapmaking is a dysfunctional mess?

The Supreme Commander GPGnet Vault, the place that is supposed to
hold player made maps, does not work. Almost all of the preview
pictures for uploaded maps look like static on a bad TV. Trying to
upload a map is a mess. If you upload an ordinary map folder, you get
junk for the preview picture. If you zip the folder, you might see a
preview picture, but the pre-upload testing does not work. The GPGnet
map-making forum seems to be practically deserted, most valid
questions go unanswered.
