@!@$#!! - Really cannot believe this...

Just got my CD for Perseus Mandate.

I want to install FEAR on my "D:\FEAR\Perseus Mandate" (17gb+ free
space).

When installing Perseus Mandate, if I change the destination to D:
path above, Install Shield does not see the disk free space, says
"Space Required on D: 0 k" and if I click [Next] I get an error dialog
that there's not enough space. Game will not install.

Note that the default install location does show the correct "Space
Required on C:."

Even tried my J:, 224gb free space and had same problem.

Until the Install Shield dialog shows the correct "Space Required on
D:" the game will not install.

Anyone else have this problem? Fix?

I have to wonder it they tested installation on drives other than
default C:.

I did contact Sierra Support and posted on Sierra + TaleGate forums.
Waiting answer.

I just installed it this weekend on my D: partition. No issues. Vista
64-bit. The partition is 365GB, with about 100GB free.

I run WinXP. Did you install the boxed CD US version?

For my problem I was pleasantly surprised that Sierra Tech Support
(vgames) came back with a fix that worked yesterday.

Just for those who run into the same problem, here's the work-around:

---------------

WITH NO OTHER WINDOWS OPEN....

1) Open the Registry Editor.

If you do not already have a shortcut somewhere, use Run and enter
RegEdit.

The simplest way is to use the Edit menu, Find option, start from the
top of the Registry, and search for:

ProgramFilesDir

This should take you to Registry entry location:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version

with the value of ProgramFilesDir = C:\Program Files

With "ProgramFilesDir" selected (highlighted), use Edit menu, Modify
option to TEMPORALLY change the value of ProgramFilesDir to the drive
where you want Perseus Mandate to install. Remember you are going to
replace the prefix of the install path from C:\Program Files to the
new PATH.

EXAMPLES:

Use E:\ if you want the install to be from the root of E:

Use E:\Games if the folder "Games" ALREADY exists and you wish to
install under that folder

For the last example, ProgramFilesDir = E:\Games

Close the Registry Editor.

2) Now insert the Perseus Mandate CD to start installation. When you
get to the install location dialog you should see the path with the
prefix set to value of ProgramFilesDir, and the install will complete
correctly.

After the install completes, DO NOT START THE GAME!

3) Open the Registry Editor again and reset
ProgramFilesDir = C:\Program Files

Close the editor AND REBOOT YOUR SYSTEM.

4) There will be one small problem remaining.

_All_ shortcuts to game EXE files still used "Target" with "C:\Program
Files" and not the path to where the game was actually installed. The
"Start in" location will be correct. So you have to edit the "Target"
= "Start in."

---------------

Note, this method can be use any time any install has this same
problem.

Hey guys.

I also have an installation problem with the exact same game.
I also happen to run Windows XP SP3.
My case is worse: whenever I try to run the installer, it crashes with an 0xc0000005 code (access status violation I guess)...
I'm from Hungary and I have the retail version from CD Projekt.
Notable fact: it doesn't use the Inno setup. It uses InstallShield as setup API.

I tried on my other PC (w/ Windows 10) and it worked flawlessly. It may be a runtime error, I dunno.

I need some help.
