Jump kick left, jump kick right. Jump kick left, jump kick right, etc.
Just like in the arcade. You can get to Goro. I've only played it on the
hard mode. The thing I find impossible is getting to the Reptile, esp if
you have to beat the Kano/Rayden combo.

First thing you might want to try is resetting the DIP switch
to 'FREEPLAY'. Type D-I-P on the config screen and set
dip # 4 to on (or maybe 5, I can't remember which).
Second, to get to reptile easily, play against a human
opponent for the first three rounds, and then play the
computer on the pit stage. It is rather easy to get to
Reptile like this, but it is rather frustraing if you mess
up and have to start again.
Anyway, I really wish you wouldn't insult this game
just because you can't finish it. I personally find
MK for the PC to be an AMAZING port of the arcade game
and it even runs exceptionally well on my 386DX40 with
8 megs of RAM and a PAS-16 card. The graphics are nearly
the exact same as the arcade, and with a few exceptions
(unfortunately noticeable), the sound is the exact same.
**FLAME OFF**
Anyway, enjoy MK--PC :-)

Well you can always change the DIP settings to give you
unlimited credits to finish the game. However, to beat
Goro try -->
1) Use Sub Zero, freeze him straight away, hit him, them
freeze him before he can get . keep doing this until you
killed him, can do it flawless if you are quick enough.
2) Use Radien (Rayden) with the following combo --
Wallslam, lightning, jumpkick x 2 then teleport behind
him and high kick then jump away and wallslam again,
works every time.
Cheat to get to reptile, play it on 2 player for 3
rounds, then you have an easy battle 1st up on the pit.

Stuart

Funny, I can get to Shang Tsung on one credit (Very easy level that is).
I now only play MK on Very hard. You must be unco...
I agree. I thought that MK was actually too easy (on very hard mode even).
oh well....
At the setup screen (F10) type in DIP. Set DIP 4 and 5 to on. You now
have unlimited (FREE) play. There is a patch out there that supports
the SB16 and 486 local bus. With this patch, the 486(MED) setting loses
no graphics quality and is much faster.

You don't have to beat any of the endurance rounds to egt to Reptile.
OK. To get to fight Reptile you must get a double flawless+fatality on a
fight vs the computer on the level at the pit. Also stuff must be
flying accross the moon (Look to la luna) (not that the moon is shown on
386 detail level). This is easy to do if you do the following. Start in 2
player mode - kill one of the players 3 times and then let the time just
run out so one of the players will be fighting the computer. This will be
the fourth round which is (usually) played at the pit. You will be then
fighting the computer at the first round difficulty. To get double flawless
set the difficulty to Very Easy and just do jumping kicks. Oh yeah you are
not allowed to use the block button (blocking will get you nowhere) at all
when you fight at the pit if you want to fight reptile. This includes doing
the fatality so Sonya and Scorpion won't work.

You should not blame the game if you are too silly to play it. Listen, I
played through it on the VERY HARD setting (no FREE PLAY!). I admit this was
not easy, but if you fail on the VERY EASY mode you must be an extremely poor
player. Have you ever seen the arcade version? It is approximately as
difficult as the medium setting on the PC, and there are many experts who
can play through it with just one coin (I am among them). So bear it - you
are obviously a loser.

I wouldn't go so far as to call the person a loser. I play on an old 386
and have noticed something strange. It seems to slow down the more I win,
then once I lose, it starts all over again. I thought the computer supposedly
"learns" your moves and gets harder as the matches progress. I would therefore
assume that maybe my 386 is not capable of keeping up with it at this higher
level. I accept this and just go on. If someone does know the true though,
as I am just making an assumption, please let me know.

Not true. Scorpion's fatality does NOT require blocking so you
can get to reptile with scorpion.
Even though you hit block to start sonya's fatality, you can
still reach reptile. "Blocking will get you nowhere" rule
does NOT apply to performing fatality, even though Sonya is
the only character that needs to block when doing a fatality.

Well, first the level of difficulty increases with the higher opponents, so
that they do not run in every trap. Furthermore there is a learning effect,
but only within a single fight or a single endurance (the second fighter
learns from the first). This learning effect only makes that you cannot use
the same attack all the time. Special moves are usually allowed two times
(most efficiently when launched from right to left), and then the computer
players will take care of them (actually you can use them more than twice
successfully, but only if you trap your opponent. For example, after being
hit two times he will not run into your fireball unforcedly a third time.).
The only thing the computer players do not learn is the jumping kick. They
sometimes block it (or uppercut, greetings from Cage), but if you press the
kick button early enough the probability is reduced.
I do not know why your 386 becomes slow. As far as I know the speed of MK is
mostly determined by the speed of the graphics card (this is why a pentium may
fail to perform sufficient speed at the Local Bus mode while a 486 with an
excellent card will do). But maybe your 386 is really rock bottom.
Greetings,
Jens

What you wrote is basically right, but you did not point out the reason
clearly. No character may block on its way to Reptile, and Sonya may not, too.
This is why Scorpion does not reach Reptile if he executes fatality with block.
However, although you hit the block button to perform fatality with Sonya
SHE ACTUALLY DOES NOT BLOCK!!! but immediately starts her fire. This is why
she gets there.

I tried something a little different last night, I unload the disk cache,
freeing up an additional 2MB of memory, leaving the total 8MB free. The
game actually ran noticably faster. I now do that in a batch file before
I run the game.

My 386 played mk terribly slow. The game itself doesn't work
very well on a 386 at all. I've played it on a 486, and it works
fine.
Even though I'm not a MK freak, it's a good game on PC. (rather than
all of the game system versions-- which suck)
