if Doom and quake came out at the same time I'll tell you doom had more
gameplay than quake. Yes, I'ld rather have an IMP chuging out fireballs at
me than an OGRE throwing grenade's I can't even see. Unlike DOOM the
characters in quake don't fit into the story. I get the feeling they made
them way before even cooking up that lame story. why is everything so
brown( ala doomII )? I still don't know the person at ID who keeps
insisting that a technologically advanced race still live in a place like
that. Just wonder around the first 3 levels of quake and all you'll see is
room after room of nothing but doors and pillars. No control center, no
engine room, no armory, no nothing. monsters don't sneak up on you they
stand and wait. THey also seem to attack in no more than 2-3 groups. In DOOM
crossing one of those "warp" things will spit out about 10-15 monsters
attacking at the same time and eating up each other in the process.
There's nothing like being chased by one of those big headed monsters (
doom1 secret level ). I think the only place quake beats doom is the
levels. I mean the texture and feel of it. It looks more "spooky" and more
realistic. that's it. great job on the 3d side. Shitty job on gameplay and
story line.

In Quake registered there are spots like this and they are much harder than
DOOM's were. Plus, the only killing of each other they do is friendly
fire, so YOU have to take them out. This is better, IMO.

no it is not better. it's called gameplay. add a little realism here will
ya? I really liked the monster eating each other heircracy( or whatever )
in Doom. At least another trick to your single player skills.

Really? Maybe thats different in Quake SW. More than once a group of
knights started attack the near by orge leaving me to clean up the
surviver.

The monsters do attack each other, it is just a little harder
to get it to happen than in Doom. Yesterday I had an Ogre
fighting a Fiend and it was quite a blood bath.
