Apparently the program thinks there's a
joystick which I don't have. So the mouse movement
is disrupted by the nonexistent joystick.
I figure the culprit is the enabled joystick port
of my Ensoniq Soundscape PnP. Unfortunately
there's no jumpers on the card to disable the
joystick port......Does anyone know a workaround
to the problem? Thanx.
My config:
- Gateway2000 10th Anniversary system (P133, 16MB)
- Win95
- Ensoniq Soundscape PnP (w/ PnP ICU and real mode
drivers installed)
- Matrox Millenium
- Microsoft PS/2 mouse

:The problem is:
:When I'm running in ms-dos mode, the computer says "not enaugh free
:conventional memory",and, also making the boot disk ( 618 k with EMS ),it says
:me the same thing ( not enaugh....).
:What can I do?
Gianluca, I can tell you what I do. Boot to pure dos (with F8). Then start
a batch file soccer.bat which loads all necessary sound drivers, mouse and
svga driver, then change to \soccer and that's it. Now, i tried several
things regarding memory and had no probs starting the game with around
550k, so memory doesn't seem to be your problem.
Send me an Email if the probs persist, I'll have a look into my
config-files then.

I have won a league game running FIFA 96 with a Ensoniq
Soundscape Elite. Use the "SSINIT.EXE" in your sndscape
directory. This must be run in DOS. Another option would be
to pull out the control panel, and in the system properties panel
for the sndscape, choose the "Settings" tab. There is an option
there to disable joystick.
Good Luck.
