Not at all. We just parted ways with the Ruins team. The shots were
all real. Shadow Warrior and Duke are really coming along. We're
trying to have a shareware Duke out by XMAS and Shadow Warrior will be
along in early 96.

Happens all the time :) Jsut one of those things where we thought it
was best to pursue a different course.

Scott,
So were the screen shots fakes? If so, are the Duke 3D, Shadow
Warrior and Blood screen shots fakes? I guess that would explain why
they are all so delayed.

George,
I appreciate the honest followup. Rumors on the web have Duke out 1st
quarter 96, however.

So they changed publishers? That happens, but developing a game to
the point of screenshots only to drop it... I really doubt that. If
so, your investors must be relatives.

Notice I said that "Ruins is no longer a 3D Realms release." The game
is still coming out, but not from us--I'm not sure which publisher has
picked it up (maybe BMG, who are doing the Saturn and PSX ports).
The screen shots are all real, but since the game was only recently
dropped, the magazines have not had time to react--they're usually two
to three months behind real-time. :-)
Id's Romero and Shawn Green visited Apogee yesterday and though Duke
looked "very impressive." (And they didn't even see the good stuff. ;)

David,
Magazines show the world as it existed several months in the past. In
two months they might print the new that 3D Realms is no longer
releasing Ruins. ;-)
Ruins is still coming out--it's just that we felt that that game had
fallen way behind the other three Build games (Duke, Shadow Warrior,
Blood) and the developers decided to part ways and find another
publisher. It's a mutually beneficial decision, and everyone still
makes a lot of money if the game comes out.
