And the FO3 Collector's Edition from Valve is $35 complete with the
stylish lunch box, the Vault Boy bobblehead, a really nice art-book,
the making of FO3 DVD, a decent user's manual and no @#$% Steam
umbilical..... you wish..........

Oh come on Shawk, turn up for work with your FO3 lunch box and put your
Vault Boy bobblehead on the desk ... you'd have to beat the women off
with a shitty stick!

Damn JAB, never thought of it that way. You think it'll work on all
those classy ladies in the Paris office?

I still want a bobblehead, and fully intent to get the special

the time...

Who can resist the bobbleheaded goodness ????

The lunchbow will end up on a shelf, but Pip Boy will sit next to my
Buddy Christ, and bobble away happily.

I thought John was joking!

I wouldn't mind buying the vault-tec lunch box and bobblehead as
standalones. I don't like the "The $130 Amazon-exclusive Survival
Edition features all of the Collector's Edition content and a replica
of the Pip-Boy 3000" . Who wants a non-working replica? I'd buy an
edition that had a working starter kit for bottlecap mines which along
with the lunch box included a bag of nuka-cola caps, sesnsor modules,
and cherry bombs that could be filled (following included
instructions) with the powder from fireworks or, for the totally
insane, gunpowder.

I agree with John Lewis re. Steam. Steam marketing is way too
aggressive for my patience. No doubt Steam makes for massive sales
even of titles that'd be thrown out of remainder bins in disgrace, in
places that have remainder bins. OK, I have suspicions that
Valve/Steam hires people under NDAs to help a bit with the
viral/internet market. When (I don't say if) MS ties it's operating
system to something as intrusive and big-brotherly as Steam, I'll
switch permanently to some version of Linux.

I like internet marketing. What I don't like is how (very good)
computer games and apps can be merged with a marketing system, so it
becomes a pain to simply enjoy the product after deleting the
marketing software.

You haven't yet encountered Games for Windows Live?

What version of Linux will you be switching to? :)

Of course! Two things, tho' - windows live isn't tied to a great
game or app, or OS ... yet. I'm way happy to do without windows
messenger service etc. And the "MS points" system sucks, so it hasn't
developed a very fine-tuned marketing concept yet. But MS does know
how to copy from the best, so it won't be long.

>What version of Linux will you be switching to? :)

I've only used Debian versions, tho' I've looked at Mandrake - now
Mandriva. And I'm not up to date on the best or most practical
version, or what kind of emulators are best, etc.

Actually I'd've switched to Linux long ago except for the poor games
support - and when MS makes the move to a permanent always-on server
app umbilical I'll be happy to move on to a console system.

I guess I'm old-fashioned, liking my privacy, esp. re. using my
personal (!!) computer. It's inconsistent that I still use a MS OS.

This has to be one of the best imagery jokes for quite a while.
