it was perfectly understandable to me what he was getting at...even

Console Cheats
Create a shortcut to the "CoDUOSP.exe" file located in the Call Of Duty
program files. Right click on the shortcut and go to properties. Go to where
it says ''Target'' and add the following onto the end of the existing link:
+set thereisacow 1337 +set developer 1 +set sv_cheats 1 +set monkeytoy 0
So the link should now say something like: ''C:\Program Files\Call of
Duty\CoDUOSP.exe" +set thereisacow 1337 +set developer 1 +set sv_cheats 1
+set monkeytoy 0
Next go into the game and bring down the console by pressing the "~" key,
then enter the codes below for the desired effect.
NOTE: The cheats will only work on a RESUME GAME. If you wish to use them on
a new game, start the game, save it, then quit the game and reload it and
the cheats should work.

in that section listen hard to the sergeant - that section is heavily
scripted and
you have to obey orders exactly using the mg and bazooka when instructed to.
if you deviate from orders the game kills you quickly. if you follow orders
then you
should be able to get through on easy without much diffficulty. and there
are better
sections later so its worth persevering

Especially for the other guys if you have superior firepower. Or wallhacks of
course.

Another example of on the rails gameplay? Serious question, I haven't played
it myself but that sounds lame.
Sounds reasonable to me. Your sargeant is giving you orders; you're
supposed to obey them.

United Offensive expansion felt more "on rails" than the original
(note it's not made by the same developer). You could practically see
the trigger-volumes that triggered various events. Also they abused
respawning, to the point where it was just not fun or believable.
e.g., You'd be walking up to a barn with an INFINITE number of German
troops in it, until you cross a magic line whence they'd all vanish.
That's basically they're level design philosophy in a nutshell; that
pattern repeated over and over. Sounds like fun, eh? Very boring game,
no where near up to the quality standard of the original COD.

That kind of pathetic attempt to raise the difficulty or to stop you comleting
the game to quickly turns me off totally. That kind of thing will make me turn
away from future games just because they happen to be by the same developer.
No imagination.

As I suspected. I have stayed away from all the expansions to MoH and CoD.
Mainly because there were better titles released for me to buy but this just
reinforces my decision. Cheap cash in.
Schrodinger, thanks. I think I'll try it some more and maybe use a cheat
like give health.

Is Call of Duty ripe with cheaters? I uninstalled UT2004 recently
and I've been looking for a new online time waster. I'll install CoD
again and give it a go. It didn't seem too bad a year ago but then
again I just assumed it was out of experience that the other players
were able to find you in the bushes or hiding in the bedrooms away
from the action.

Which games in your opinion were better that MoH and CoD?
I found the recently released Men of Valor much better. Out of the two you
mention I preferred MoH. Playing CoD seemed to remind me somewhat of the way
RtCW played. I know they both used the Quake 3 engine AFAIK but there is
something that just doesn't feel right about it as an FPS. Can't quite put my
finger on it. More likely a combination of the UI and the way you move etc.
but it just FEELS wrong.
