Can anybody tell me what trigers these tasks (LDDOIM & LDDSCH) on my AS/400
? and eventually how I can control them.

LDDOIM task takes at certain moments more than 100 % of the CPU Power.
Data in the QAPMJOBS performance file indicate 6 million Cpu milliseconds
in a 1058 second interval (quite performing isn't it ?)

LDDSCH taks uses somewhat less, but still quite high

I'm running a 320 with version 3.2 installed

Thanks.

Hi Wim,

Both jobs don't look like system jobs, but rather as application software.
I'll guess you'll have to look in this area and consult the company or
programmer that installed it.

Regards,
Paul

Wim,

"LD" means Load/Dump, what the VLIC guys call Save/Restore. LD-tasks
do save/restore functions.

We had a time when I saw those jobs running a lot. And also the LDIOM
job. I asked about the LDIOM job and found out it's a Load Dump IO
Manager and that it had to do with save/restore. but we were also at
about 97% DASD, so who knows.

I did a search through the IBM books and it didn't say what they are.
They were just on some performence exercise.

The LDxxxx tasks are Load/Dump modules. You probably had a
save/restore occurring during the performance snapshot.

I have seen these modules consume quite a lot of CPU when the
save/restore is running in a memory constrained pool. The
solution is to watch where you run the save/restore...

GOOD LUCK!
