Does anyone know how to change the log on screen for regular green screens
on AS/400? I know you can, but do not where to find the file that contains
it? Please send me an email.

I am running V3R7 RISC.

Thanks,

Do a CHGSBSD on the subsystem in question (probably QINTER) and you can
change the parameter SGNDSPF (Sign-on display file) to what ever you
want - make sure it's a good file - or you might not be able to sign-on
to that sbs! The default sign-on display file is QDSIGNON in QSYS - the
source is in QDDSSRC in QGPL.

You will find the source for the default signon screen in QGPL/QDDSSRC
under member QDSIGNON. Change the file as you want. Don't change the
number of fields or their order in the I/O buffer to/from the screen.
YOu can still do a lot under the constant text thought as well as hide
the fields you don't want the user to see.
To change the display, change the SBSD using CHGSBSD and point it to the
new signon DSPF.
I usually just non-display and protect everything except the user ID and
password. I add a message under constant text where the prompt text for
menu and current library go. If you change it too much, you won't be
able to use it via CA/400's Graphical Access GUI display or the WSG
function under HTTP.

Make sure you do not alter the order or length, or remove any of the fields
that exist in the qdsignon dspf. You can move the positions on the screen
and hide fields but don't change the order of the fields in the dspf source.

One important thing that you should remember to do when you create the new
signon display file is to specify MAXDEV(256) on the change or create.

The default is 1 and will only allow one device to show the sign-on display at
a time.

Jamie, if you are referring to changing the AS/400 Sign-on screen, you can
find the source for it in library QGPL in source file QDDSSRC member
QDSIGNON. At least, it used to be there on V3R1.

Steps to changing AS400 Sign-On Screen:
1. Copy QDSIGNON to a unique member name (Ex. QDSIGNON1) and make the
changes to the copy.
2. While modifying the display with SDA, do NOT press F6=Sort by
row/column.
3. Compile the new DSPF under the new name into library QSYS.
4. Use CHGSBSD cmd to assign the subsystem to the new sign-on screen.
Changes will be effective after the subsystem has been restarted.

Good luck,
