Could someone list for me the new features between the standard RDBMS
of the AS/400 (V3R1) and the DB2/400 that people are talking about. I
have worked with the AS/400 for years, but have not been able to keep
up on the new features that have been coming out up to V3R6 and the
new RISC boxes. (To many projects with legecy code) So what is new
in the DB2/400?

Thanks for helping!!

Greg

Greg,

Let me throw another spin your way. . . . IBM has renamed the database
(again) and it is now called DB2 for AS/400.

V3R1 and above give the following features. If you have further
questions, feel free to let me know.

Referential Integrity (no parentless childs)
Triggers (Any system Function, written in any language)
Stored Procedures (any language)
Remote Database Access (through DRDA to other DB2 and gateways to
Oracle and the like
2-phase commit
C2 Security (was there with V2R3)
Save-While-Active (there since V2R3 but improved)
Journaling and Auditing
Query Optimizer(AI to tell how long a query takes)
Query Governor(ways to limit who can run queries how)
Support for ODBC(level 1 in V2R3, Level2 in V3R1 and above
(read/write))
Support for DAL (Apple's Data Access language (chargable)
SMP (symetric multi-processing -- for a fee)
Multiple system support (db2 across multiple AS/400's -- for a fee)

Hope this helps.

Ken.
