If /retrieve/ is meant to imply via code, then perhaps the
MATMATR MI instruction [although as MI, it is subject to change].

The following message [thread] which mentions MATMATR:
http://archive.midrange.com/rpg400-l/200211/msg00432.html
The above link refers to message:
http://archive.midrange.com/rpg400-l/200109/msg00351.html

Presumably also the "Retrieve Hardware Resource Information
(QGYRHRI, QgyRtvHdwRscInfo) API" at:
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/iseries/v5r4/topic/apis/qgyrhri.htm
With that I infer as part of the "Location code", the "Unit Type" is
denoted by the "Utttt.mmm.sssssss" where the "value of the unit
enclosure identifier composed of uppercase alphabetic characters and
digits. Commonly this value will be composed of the machine type
(tttt), model (mmm) and serial number (sssssss)." Maybe the type is
available directly using the "RHRI0400 Format" of that API, or
perhaps only after using the "Retrieve Hardware Resource List API",
for which there may be a specific resource for /processor resource/
[i.e. for /resource category/ = 4] information which denotes
effectively "the machine" itself. And for that API, see:
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/iseries/v5r4/topic/apis/qgyrhrl.htm
