Running apps in IFS

Is it possible to do a network install of an application into the IFS and
then run it from their like you can on other networks such as Novell. I was
told that the IFS does not permit this because it is more limited. Is this
true or can I install an app on it and have users run the software remotely?

The IFS, via the Netserver (SMB server), should be treated just like any other
Windows server by the PC client.
