AS400 netserver not starting

Every few days on our V5R1 AS400 netserver support won't start after
backups and it takes an IPL to get it started again. I get this
message but have not been able to figure out whats keeping it from
getting started, any ideas? There is NOT another computer on the
network with the same name as the name of our server (the netserver
name as well as the AS400 name) I cannot figure out what the 3423
code is.

Cause . . . . . : The required AS/400 NetServer job QZLSSERVER was
unable to
start because of reason code 6. See the following reason codes and
their
meanings:
1 - Unable to retrieve user credentials.
2 - Unable to retrieve credentials.
3 - Exchange user profile failed.
4 - Unable to obtain lock for service program QZLSSRV1 in library
QSYS.
5 - Start of the NetBIOS over TCP/IP failed with return code 3423.
6 - Start of the internal server failed with return code 3423.
Note:
Return code 16 indicates that there is another computer on the
network

may be a timing problem in qstrup... but why must you do an IPL...
have you tried to do a STRTCPSVR SERVER(*NETSVR) when its not up...??

if this works you can create a scheduled jobqe on a certain time to start
it...
maybe this will be a workaround for this problem

Yes, I do try STRTCPSVR SERVER(*NETSVR) but it won't start until I IPL.

1) The jobq qsysnomax need release
2) Could you ping the Host.DomainName (cfgtcp + option 12 ), if not, it need
add this adress in the iseries host table.
3) May be the DNS adress of your netserver have a other destination IP
adress (try the command traceroute).

A endtcp and strtcp will do, I got the same errors even after a IPL.

so what are you doing after the backup or before the backup that netserver
is down ???

I bring netserver down in order to back up the files on the IFS, then
bring it back up after the backup has taken place. every now and then
it won't start back up unless I IPL.
