What is the best way to take a spool file that is built in a ile rpg
program and when it is finished copy it to a standard PF. I am starting
to get into modifying our old programs and converting them to ile and
making the output web enabled. I need to send a the print file that the
program generates out to the web server on user request. The user will
enter a customer number and I will build the spool file then copy it to a
PF and read the file and write it out using the web api's and place html
around it. This would be much faster than rewriting the program. I
looked at the printer file infields but their does not seem to be the
correct information to do a cpysplf. Is their another way to do this.

Either wrap it in a CL or use QCMDEXEC.

Is the spool file created via an external described PRTF or a program
descirbed one?
If the the latter is the case it *may* be an alternative (depending on
the concrete pgm I don't know) that the pgm described PRTF is
"changed" to a pgm described O data file (e.g. 132 bytes length).
"Writing" then will give a nice 1:1 copy of the spool file, better
than a cpysplf output.

But I don't think that this is an essential information for you. ;-)

I don't understand what the problem is, i.e. I cannot imgine what your
above problem description means (it is a matter of understanding your
problem). - So, if there won't be a problem solving posting (in this
case more precise informations for me are obsolete ;-): *What* is the
problem with the "printer file infields"?

I am interested in the subject if the project is to convert a report
program's output into a HTML page. I have experimented with this and was
able to monitor an outq from wich I cpysplf the spool file into a db file
for a later read by an ILERPG that would add hte html instructions around
the data and later copy it into a sub-directory of IFS to make it available
to the web server...
I see below the use of an Web API to do some of the job ??? Tell me more.

Thanks,
Daniel.

Well this week I have started to create a tool that will monitor a spoolf
file and select a spool file to process as a html document. This process
will be kicked off by a request from the web server by passing key
information to the program. Next I plan to add the ability for the
program to run in batch and monitor the spool file and create the html
pages and write them to the ifs to have a auto update each night for
certain reports and customers. When I am finished with it I will post it
here for you to try out.
