I have a related question.

When trying to delete the RDB, I get this warning message:

"Removing the *LOCAL directory entry may cause loss of configuration data."

I was wondering, what configurations could be lost and what kind of trouble could be caused if I delete and recreate this entry (besides the fact that the pre-existing references to the former RDB name would not be valid anymore)

Thank you!

In effect, a request to Remove Relational DataBase Directory Entry
(RMVRDBDIRE) of the RDB() name that defines [instead of a Remote
Database, defines] the database of the local system['s *SYSBAS].

Specifically, that is the inquiry msg CPA3E01 "Removing the *LOCAL
directory entry may cause loss of configuration data. (C G)".

The message details, available from F1=Help with the cursor
positioned on the first-level text of the message, describes what is
lost and that the recovery is with use of the Change DDM TCP/IP
Attributes (CHGDDMTCPA) command to record the existing values and then
to reset them, if the option G=Go is the choice instead of C=Cancel:

From output of DSPMSGD CPA3E01:
" Cause . . . . . : An attempt was made to remove the *LOCAL RDB
directory entry, or to change it to a type of other than *LOCAL. This
entry is used to store configuration data for the CHGDDMTCPA command.
If the *LOCAL entry is removed, configuration data may be lost, and the
default configuration values will be in effect. If the default values
are not satisfactory, configuration data will have to be re-entered with
the CHGDDMTCPA command.
Recovery . . . : If there is no need to delete the *LOCAL entry,
or to change it to a remote entry, enter C to cancel processing. If the
*LOCAL entry must to be deleted so that the RDB name associated with it
can be changed, you may want to first record the values displayed by the
CHGDDMTCPA command so that they can be restored after the *LOCAL entry
is gone. You may also want to record those values, if the *LOCAL entry
is being deleted, as part of a generic or group delete. Enter G only if
you want to proceed to remove the *LOCAL entry now."

The CHGDDMTCPA enables establishing configuration settings for both
the Autostart Server (AUTOSTART) and Password Required (PWDRQD)
parameters. As I recall, only the latter of those is stored with the
data representing the *LOCAL RDBDIRE [as either the value of the
Security Mechanism (DBXRSEC) column or the (DBTFLGS) column] of the
database file QADBXRDBD in QSYS, in the row WHERE DBXRMTN='*LOCAL'. The
AutoStart should be stored as part of data for the *DDM server row in
the file QATOCSTART in QUSRSYS.

If you delete the dba, wouldn't that mess with your relationships from the main table. Like deleting a physical file with logical, it will not let your delt the physical file. But really to bust some bubbles, table and view are nothing more than physical and logicals.
