I retrieved the startup cl source and want to add a call.
There is not pdm licpgm on the machine, means no strseu.
Is there a way to edit the source member?

Thank you
Walter

Not easy, but you can try:

CRTPF FILE(YOURLIB/YOURPF) RCDLEN(srcf_rcd_len - 12)
CPYF FROMFILE(YOURLIB/YOURSRCF) TOFILE(YOURLIB/YOURPF) CRTFILE(*YES)
FMTOPT(*CVTSRC)
UPDDTA FILE(QTEMP/PIPPO)
CPYF FROMFILE(YOURLIB/YOURPF) TOFILE(YOURLIB/YOURSRCF) CRTFILE(*YES)
FMTOPT(*CVTSRC)

If you prefer to work from a "green screen" one method is the EDTF
command. Download from:
http://service.software.ibm.com/dl/sap/saptools-d

If you prefer a PC editor:
1) Download (eg ftp) the source member to a PC, edit, then upload to the
AS/400.
2) If you run CA/400 or NetServer, assign a network drive, and use a PC
editor directly.

This was discussed recently in this newsgroup in the thread:
Re: How do I edit the Startup Program without PDM on the system?

Go to www.dejanews.com and search this newsgroup. For option 2 above
see one of my posts on 11/05/98... in dejanews search for "wordpad".

Use a transfer from AS/400 to PC to put your source in a text file.
After that, NOTEPAD on your PC can change it.

Hi,
If he does not have PDM on the machine will he have the compiler to
compile the new source?

Hi there,

Yes, the CL compiler is included in OS/400 and cannot be removed (the
only part that can be removed is the option for previous releases. PDM on
the other hand is a separate licensed program (part of Application
Development ToolSet - 57xx-PW1), and is necessaraly installed.

If you want an AS/400 based full screen editor and don't have PDM look at
using
the EDTF command. It is part of the new improved(?) qusrtools. Since it
requires a "C" compiler IBM has made it available via PTF for V3R6 +. Of
cource you can't
prompt commands in it, but it is great for quick/dirty CL editing.
V3R6 - SF32208
V3R7 - SF38832
V4R1 - SF41518
V4R2 - SF45296
V4R3 - SF49052
