I have a Tally printer that is listening on port 10001 for lpr requests. I
don't see anything in the setup where I can tell the AS/400 to send to that
port. I have other printers working fine that use the standard port. Anyone
have any experience with this printer and setting it up to accept AS/400 spool
files?

AS/400 LPR/LPD follows the RFC 1179. That RFC states that LPD listens on port
515. No other port number is specified, nor is there any discussion or
definition regarding the use of another port. The source port can be anything
below 1024 (revised RFC 1179). The source port is on the LPR end. If I remember
right on AS/400 we only use source ports between 256 and 1024 (inclusive). If
you wish to have an LPR that opens a connection with an LPD server on a different
port (LPD side) than 515, you will have to write it yourself. The other option
is to go through your IBM service rep. with a new function request (but
I wouldn't hold your breath).
