Hello. I'm preparing to install some cumulative PTF i just download from
internet to my 5.4.0 machine.

I'll move on in this way: download files to my pc, upload to As400, then
add to image catalog. Now, i'm not able to have the *.bin file added to
a catalog without doing a new copy of the file in another directory, or
rename it in the actual one.

This is both a waste of time and space (providing that the PTF are more
than 4gb). I've take a look at the manual and do some search on google,
and even lokok for some API's, but it seems that the only way to add a
file to an Imaga catalog requires the copy of the same file to another
location (which, in fact, ended up doublig the space necessary and
wasting time for the copy).

Does anyone knows if there's a way to add file to a catalog and avoid
copying ?

Not quite sure what your asking, the image catalog is going to
reference a directory that will hold the information in the IFS.

upload the imagefiles to the directory of your imagecatalog.

ADDIMGCLGE IMGCLG(<name>) FROMFILE(<imagefile>) TOFILE(*FROMFILE)
