I am working at a client site and they want to create a process that
emails members to their users. It's a little more detailed then that
- so here's the other info.
Peoplesoft/jde creates a PDF file called F###### in a library/file
called B7334sys/printqueue. The F##### member needs to be renamed to
anything.pdf and emailed from the 400.
I can snddst the member to a user - but it comes across as
ATT0000##.dat. I need to be able to send this to the user as a .pdf.
One recommendation was to place the member in the IFS as something.pdf
- and email it from there.
Anyone already resolved one of these issues an care to send me a
template or an example of how they resolved it? I know that AS/400
sites are doing this type of stuff all the time.

Copy the member to the pc folders with cpytopcd... These live in /QDLS in
the ifs but dont use QDLS as the TOFLR unless you want it at /QDLS/QDLS/.
The TODOC filename must be of the 8.3 format. Then the snddst uses the DOC &
FLR parameters instead of the DOCFILE & DOCMBR parms. The FLR part does not
require the QDLS either.
It workd file for us.
Alternatively get a better mail client or users which can think for themself
& not just willy nilly assume the filename describes the file. (seems
unlikely this will ever happen)

I would suggest trying the MIME & Mail free utility from IBM. You can
convert to PDF and send emails without using SNDDST.
The web site is www-922.ibm.com.

Any idea what should be used for "TRNTBL" to convert from EBCDIC to ASCII ??

Daniel,
If you are open to an inexpensive commercial solution, SNDEML can email
attachments from any part of the IFS, and the attachments can be given
any name you want: http://www.min.net/~idh/sndeml/

I already found it. QASCII in QSYS.
Thanks

Example of a working COPYTOSTMF Command:
CPYTOSTMF FROMMBR('qsys.lib/b7334sys.lib/printqueue.file/f10.mbr')
TOSTMF(
'QDLS/JDEPDF/r10.pdf') STMFOPT(*REPLACE) CVTDTA(*NONE) DBFCCSID(819)
ENDLINFMT(*
FIXED)
================================================================================
Example of a working SNDDST Command:
SNDDST TYPE(*DOC) TOINTNET((DRBO...@EXISTINGLIGHT.NET)) DSTD('TEST
FROM A
S400') MSG('TEST PDF SEND FROM IFS ON AS400') DOC(R10.PDF) FLR(JDEPDF)

By doing the copy to stream file, followed by the send distribution -
I do recieve a working PDF in my inbox.
Last hickup - I can only copy one stream file into the IFS folder - I
don't know enough about IFS to know why I can't put more than one
object in the folder. Will using copytopcd fix the issue?
Can I put more than one object in the folder ??? How???
recommendations?
You'd need to call the CPYYOSTMF more than once. Unless you're asking
how do you email more than one attachment? Not sure if SNDDST will do that.
You could check out my popular MAILTOOL utility at
www.bvstools.com/mailtool.html. It adds a lot of functionality compared
to the SNDDST command.

You should be able to put lots of items in an IFS folder - but all with
different names, hope thats not your problem. You have already got the
replace option so is it due to authorities ? You need an additional
'authority' to QDLS which is achieved with the user being added to the
directory with WRKDIRE.
Try wrklnk '/QDLS/JDEPDF/*'
and then option 3 & F4 to copy - make sure you dont just copy to / or
whatever your current directory is. Hope this helps.

If you're open to a commercial SMTP email client for the AS/400, check out
our SMTP/400 software.
SMTP/400 will allow you to email JDE PDF's from the AS/400/iSeries.
For more info on testing SMTP/400, contact me directly and I'll help you get
started.
