We have V4R2 CA400 M3 SF48155

In migrating from MS SNA to CA400 winsock we seem to have hit some limit.
It seems that we can not get more than 50-60 connections.

Then the AS400 refuses connections.
The biggest problem is we can not find any messages.

WRQ Reflections said connection refused.
Standard little connectionless icon are in CA400.

We have Qvcrt 999 (sorry, Qsomething)

We have a similar limit with SNA Qpcsupp at 64.
We are trying to get everything to connection to the Token Ring interface
with the same IP address.

So, how many PCs can I connect to one interface?
I only have 400 PC and only need about 200 5250 sessions.

Douglas:

Check the QAUTOVRT sysval. It should be set for the number of sessions
that you expect to autocreate.

If QAUTOVRT is ok, check out the TRN Line description for the Maximum
Controllers parm (MAXCTL). Ours is set at 60. Default on our system is 40
(V4R1). Max is 256.

Hope it helps,
Bryan

The limit is 254 controllers on token ring line. However, your post is
confusing. You mention migrating from SNA with the SNA Gateway to a
TCP/IP connection with CA/400...then you mentioned WRQ Reflections.
These are competing products. Which client are you deploying? Client
Access for Windows 95/NT or WRQ Reflections.

Client Access impacts OS/400 license management...WRQ Reflections does
not use license manangement on the AS/400 ( you must purchase the
number of copies you wish to deploy). Depending which clients you are
using will help in determining the source of the constraints. You may
be limited by the number of controllers to autocreate in the
token-ring line description or by license management.

Hi Darryl,

Native TCP/IP isn't using controllers to connect to the AS/400 (which makes
life a lot easier).

Kind regards,
Paul
