We receive error CWBDB0052 while downloading tables to a PC. The error
message text is: "Data is stored in different formats on the server
and the client. An error was detected while converting data from the
server format to the client format.". However, the record number at
which the error occurs is variable; it never happens at the same
record during successive downloads of the same table. We convert from
EBCDIC to ASCII during the transfer and store the PC file as a .csv
for later use in Excel. Our AS/400 tables contain packed and trailing
over-punch data. We're at Express Client and OS/400 V5R1, and we use
Office 2000 on Win98 SE desktops. The PC files always appear to be
complete and correct; we're at a loss to find any error(s) in the PC
files. How can we isolate what's causing the CWBDB0052 error?

Thanks,
John

John,

having such problems as your actual situation for years I've developed a
tool "iExcelGen" which allows you to generate Excel tables direct on your
AS400 / iSeries.

If you want to get rid of Client Access have a look at www.goering.de
There you'll find the solution "iExcelGen".
Download it for an evaluation.....
