I'm looking for ODBC drivers for the AS/400, preferably TCP/IP based.
Any suggestions on where those can be found publically?

Greg

Greg,

I do not know of any FREE ODBC drivers for the AS/400...save
the ODBC driver in Operations Navigator which is "technically" free
to use, but is not available for download.

Aside from the Client Access ODBC driver (that is also in Ops Navigator)
there is a driver from HiT Software and another from StarQuest. There
are others too...but all are chargeable.

Do you mean a (client) driver for OS/400 that would enable the AS/400 to
fetch data from a ODBC server like Oracle or else ??? I'm interested if
you find anything...

Daniel.

Greg:

Go to Yahoo.com (or whatever search site you like) and type something like
"odbc driver download as/400" into the 'Search' field and press the <Search>
button.

But if you mean "ODBC drivers for the AS/400" as in an ODBC driver that _RUNS_
on an AS/400, check the manual "DB2 for AS/400 SQL Call Level Interface
(ODBC)" (SC41-5806-00). That is, it's built in nowadays and has been for some
time.

Hit Software has one that does this. No need for client access. It
accesses the 400 via TCP/IP. It costs around $200 (us). It works really
well. Their web site is www.hit.com. They have a free evaluation copy.

Actually from V3R7 and beyond you do not need a client access license to use
ODBC over TCP/IP. The license is only required if you use Netsoft router,
PC5250, or data transfer.

IBM AS/400 has already helped Oracle develop such a driver - it's called
the Oracle Access Manager for AS/400.
