I need to download a file in the old dbase format. I created the file
on the AS/400 but can't get it to download as a .DBF file for an old DOS
application that is still being used.
I am using client access v3r1m3. Any suggestions with this software or
must I go out an buy something else for this one function?

Thanks
David Patterson

The way we do this is.. Download it as a Dif file.... After that, We
import it to a DBF file using Paradox.. Not sure if you could go right to a
DBF.. If there is a way, Please let me know

You could use something like Microsoft Query via ODBC to import it, export
it again to DBF.

Hi Tim,
Don't know any way to download into DBFformat but like you said DIF
format is the way to go. Any software package worth its salt will read DIF.
If you are using Dbase or foxpro etc. just create the file and then do a
"append to" and you are off and running.

One easy way is to either import or link the file into an Access
database (using File...External Data...Link or Export) and then do an
export of the table to DBF.

You can also find a little more about this at
http://www.bsing.com/bo400ng/AS400Q0095.htm, but the question is
geared towards going to the AS/400 with the DBF file.

use cpytopcd to copy your database to the "I" drive of your AS/400, then
Using Excel, import the data as an ascii file. and export it as a DBF file.

If you need detailed help on this, write me

If you have SEQUEL (third party product) on your machine, I believe that
is capable of writing a dBase file to a shared folder ...
