Hello everybody

We wrote a Micorsoft Visual Basic 5.0 program to transfer data from AS/400 to
MS SQL Server.

Since a few days we have problems to attach any AS/400 - files. When we run
the program in VB program environment, it is OK. However, after making an
executable program, we got "3146 ODBC call failed" message while running the
statement of openrecordset for the attached AS400 file.

The problem is not in VB, it seams to be in AS/400 (probably Client Access)

When I try to display a AS/400 - File in ClientAccess the following error
message appears:

CWBLM0006 - The AS400 License system XYZXYZ is not
available.

I already tried to stop and restart tcp and strhostsvr *all

What about "telnet" . In ClientAccess I get an Warning message while
connecting to AS/400: Something like Telnet does not running

Any idea?
Help would be appreciate!

Thanks!

First u should check if there is a managing system in client access
properties.
this is start -> settings -> control panel-> Client Access -> Service.
this should fix the problem with the license subsystem.
this problem occurs with a particular service pack for ca 3.1.2 (i think so)

second you should use the cfgtcp command, option 21 - additional tables (i
don´t know
what this option is called in english or else) and option 1 for service
table. This equals
\\%winntroot\system32\drivers\etc\services. Now you should add
Service: telnet
Port: 23
protocol: tcp
Now you get rid of the telnet warning.
