I tried to connect my PC to the AS/400 after the weekend, and am
unable to get connected. I get a CWBLM0020 - License manager software
error (0003,0051) message.
When I look at the history log on the PC, I get the following:
Successfully connected to AS/400 server mapper.
Retrieving conversion table from server AS400Q1.
CWBNL0105 - Communications returned primary return code 1 and
secondary code 33.
CWBNL0104 - Error occurred while retrieving conversion table.
CWB0002 - File 0352fff.TBL was not found.
CWBNL0101 - Conversion from code page 850 to code page 65535
unsupported.

Nothing has changed (as far as I know), since Friday, when I could
connect fine.
The only way that I can currently connect is by using the console,
which is fairly awkward.

If anyone can give me any help, I would be most grateful.

I had the same problem a few days ago. The solution was found in the
history-log. One of the messages in the log said that a TLB file was
missing. (TLB-files have something to do with converting from EBCDIC to
ASCII, and the files are found in the Client Access- directory). I found
this file on another PC and copied this file to the PC with the problem. I
was able to start Client Access again.

you could always use telnet from the run prompt in windows.

I don't have a clue what might be causing that, but it just goes to show
that it's always a good idea to have a non-CA TN5250 emulator at hand to
circumvent these cases. Try www.mochasoft.com or www.symtrax.com. I
personally favour the Symtrax TN5250 over the Mocha one (after stripping off
the banners, which is easy). At least you won't have to use the console but
can work from your own PC, until you solve this weird problem. It looks like
something changed on the AS/400 system, causing table 0352fff.TBL to appear
missing.

Thanks for all your help.
I rebooted the AS/400 and the PC last night, and ... suprise, suprise,
I can connect fine.
I did try using the bog standard Telnet session from the PC, but gave
up when I could not page down! I might have a look at the other
offerings, just in case.
