Hi,
I use V5R1 Operations Navigator. I have a general outq called `qprint`
and no printer is defined for it.
I can see all my printers in OPN, but since `qprint` isn't connected
to a printer, it isn't shown.
Is there a way to manage this outq from the OPN?

The V5R2 iSeries Operations Navigator has some limited support under the
Work Management component to work with output queues. Note that if you
secure your output queues and you do not have specific object
authorities to the output queue, Operations Navigator will not present
those output queues in the list (even if you have authority to the
output queues through *JOBCTL or *SPLCTL special authorities).

For V5R1 or back, you must go to the include drop down option and
specify the specific output queue. Don't have a PC to give you the
exact steps to select the output queue.

here's one way:

CRTDEVPRT DEVD(QPRINT) DEVCLS(*VRT) MODEL(3812) ONLINE(*NO) FONT(11)

This will work with any OUTQ that is in QUSRSYS. (Like QEZDEBUG, QEZJOBLOG,
etc.)
(assuming you have enough permission to actually use CRTDEV*)

Thank, George, but the outq already exists in library QGPL and when i
execute CRTDEVPRT, it creates a new device under QUSRSYS. Bacause of
the duplication, the default prints go into the new device. I've
created a new print device, then varied it off and linked the qprint
outq to the new printer.
Now i can see the outq in OPN, but its a lame solution.

Thanks, Rodney, but under the drop down option "all" is inscluded. the
problem is that no printer device description is linked to Qprint.

Ok, more detailed description:

1) Expand Basic Operations
2) right click while highlighting Printer Output
3) select customize this view
4) select include
5) for the output queues select specify (Qgpl/Qprint) (or use Browse
button and select from a list)

You can go into "Printer Output" instead of printers, hit F11 and select the
parameters you want. (like outq and user)...

You haven't actually mentioned what you are trying manage so what you use
will depend on that.

If you are just wanting to manage spool files, then Basic Operations ->
Printer Output is the place to go (Menu View -> Customise -> Include (or
F11) enables you to change what you are looking at).

If you are wanting to do something else, instead of Basic Operations, look
under Work Management. There is an Output Queues option which shows your
output queues (whether attached to a printer or not). The support for
manipulating the queue is minimal but support for spool files is OK.

Well, thanks guys for all your help.
Even IBM help desk couldn't help me with this issue.
I want to manage the spooled files and monitor the amount of jobs left
in the queues.
"Basic operations>Printer output" did it for me, although there isn't
a better way of viewing the queues like in `Printer` but with a colum
of `Jobs in queue`.
The option of Output queues under Work management doesn't exist in my
version (V5R1M0) and i can see only job queues.
BTW, i use some monitors to monitor problematic jobs and CPU usage,
and the file in the collection services keeps growing over 30mb. Is it
normal?
