is it possible to bind two ip-adresses to one network interface, so that
the as/400 can be in two different networks and how can i change my

CFGTCP, then option 1 - Work with interfaces.
You will probably have to configure a route for each interface.

Is this option avaiable on all AS/400 Systems/Software Versions?

I think this should not be a problem...

or does this force an error because the two adresses use the same line?

i have 1 physical network with 2 logical network, so it should work...
but why no routing ? i have one router for every network....
i have added this adresses but i cannot start this interface ( the old
one still works)
do you have any idea?
Greetings
Lars
This is correct. Up to 255 addresses allowed if I remember right.
Just press F11 to see if both are up. I've seen one being off after
IPL for unknown reason.
Walter
now i want to add the second adress with *VIRTUALIP but i get the
following:
TCP/IP-Schnittstelle ?ndern (CHGTCPIFC)
Auswahl eingeben und Eingabetaste druecken.
Internet-Adresse . . . . . . . . > '2XX.XXX.XX.XXX'
Leitungsbeschreibung . . . . . . > *VIRTUALIP
Teilnetzmaske
Zugeordnete lokale Schnittestelle '*NONE'
Serviceart *NORMAL
Max. Uebertragungseinheit *LIND
Automatisches Starten *YES
ID des log.... *SAME
x.25 *SAME
. *SAME
. *SAME
. *SAME
Fehler: LCLIFC fuer *VirtualIP_Schnittstelle muss *NONE sein
what can i do?
greetings
Lars
why do you want to set this to *VIRTUALIP ? you allready set it to your
ethline.
Gerhard
this was a failure, i tried it because i didn't know what to do else, the
interface will not start....
Any clues?
greetings
Lars

Try to look at the joblog of both your job and the QTCPIP job in
QSYSWRK subsystem. You should see the reason why the interface does not
start.

the error code is:
TCP1B12 - interface is already startet ( but there is no started if)
Best regards
Lars
You can use NETSTAT option 1 to check what interfaces are up and can
also start them easily inthere.
Many of my clients use more than one ip address on one adapter for
history reasons and never had troubles. just important is that you
keep the routing entries proper (CFGTCP option 2)
