Hello,

is it possible to bind two ip-adresses to one network interface, so that
the as/400 can be in two different networks and how can i change my
ip-configuration?

Greetings
Lars

CFGTCP, then option 1 - Work with interfaces.

You will probably have to configure a route for each interface.

Is this option avaiable on all AS/400 Systems/Software Versions?

I think this should not be a problem...

is this the correct configuration to bind two adresses to one interface?

Aus- Internet-
wahl Adresse Teilnetzmaske Leitungsbeschreibung Leitungsart

127.0.0.1 255.0.0.0 *LOOPBACK *NONE
199.5.83.160 255.255.255.0 ETHLINE *ELAN
192.168.144.251 255.255.255.0 ETHLINE *ELAN

or does this force an error because the two adresses use the same line?

Greetings

Lars

Yes but you need an user profile with *IOSYSCFG special authority.

If you have 2 phisical networks you need 2 ethernet cards, if you have only one phisical network with 2 logica IP networks you need only one ethernet card. Both cases you need to add a 2nd IP interface in TCP/IP configuration, CFGTCP + option 1.
You don't need to add any routing

i have 1 physical network with 2 logical network, so it should work...
but why no routing ? i have one router for every network....

This is correct. Up to 255 addresses allowed if I remember right.
Just press F11 to see if both are up. I've seen one being off after
IPL for unknown reason.

Try to look at the joblog of both your job and the QTCPIP job in
QSYSWRK subsystem. You should see the reason why the interface does not

Assume net 192.168.1.0 and net 192.168.2.0, if you have an IP interface on net 192.168.1.0 to address net 192.168.2.0 you need to add a route to that net, that is tell as400 which is the gateway to go to that net. If you add a second IP interface on net 192.168.2.0 as400 learns how to go to that net.

Can be a malfunction of TCP/IP or you added a wrong address, maybe an address that is already in use.
When you enter the command STRTCPIFC INTNETADR('192.xxx.xxx.xxx') do you get any message? If any place the cursor on the message and press F1, post the message.

Hi

You can use NETSTAT option 1 to check what interfaces are up and can
also start them easily inthere.
Many of my clients use more than one ip address on one adapter for
history reasons and never had troubles. just important is that you
keep the routing entries proper (CFGTCP option 2)

Daniel
