Does any know of any product to convert Office Vision documents to MS
Word? I used to have a free converter, but can't seem to locate or
find it. We have a lot of mail merge documents and did not know if
there was something out there to convert to Word mail merge documents.

Thanks

micrsoft (I think) used to have some converters you could download and
then you could open a rtf400 document with word (through a shared
folder).

The converters are still available, a little hard to find as they
aren't included in the newer ones. I think I still have a copy of
them which I could probably email to you. I think you install them
into word and then you can open the document with word and save it.
It's not a batch process doing it this way.

The new conversions you can download from Microsoft no longer have
them, but I still have a copy. IIf I didn't say it, they DO NOT work
with Office 2007, but they DO work with Office 2003 I believe. If you
want me to email them to you, let me know and I can do so; I may even
have the instructions on where you put them.

Then you just map a drive to the folder with the documents and you can
open them using word 2003 (or earlier).

Yes I believe that is what I had before my hard drive crashed. It's a
feature or add-on in Word '97 I can not find it again nor find the
instructions to install it, but I know I had it working with Word
2003.

I emailed the file to you if that is in fact your correct email.

If not, or you don't get it (because it is an exe file), here are some
links that you may be able to get it from - I think it's probably the
same. My file is 12.1mb, which is what I emailed you. I think
actually that came from the Office 2000 converter pack, not 2003, so
the office 2003 one may not have it, which is the one I think, in the
microsoft links below. However, the link to filewatcher may be the
correct one you want. If you don't get the one I emailed you, make
sure I have your correct email and I will resend it. I can rename it
convpack.bad and you can rename it convpack.exe on your end when you
receive it.

If none of these help, google convpack.exe but look for the Office
2000 one which should be 12.1mb in size.

On this page, find Office Converter Pack for 2003 Resource Kit Web
Site link:
http://www.microsoft.com/office/orkarchive/2000ddl.htm#convpack

or check this out (link to 2003 pack which may not work...:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ork2003/HA011513581033.aspx

Here may be some more links, again, I am guessing this is the one you
need:

I have shelves full of books that I have bought because they might be of
interest at some stage. Among them is a brand new copy of the Microsoft
Office 2000 Resource Kit if anyone is stuck.
About eight years ago, I tried converting documents but it seemed to have
big problems with margins and fonts, so I started to analyse the QDLS file,
but lost interest. Has anyone else followed that path?

Best of luck

Take a look at InterWord400: www.interword400.com

This product can convert existing Office Vision documents into RTF
documents (placed in the IFS). The RTF documents can be used for
normal mail merges very simular to Office Vision.
The product runs fully on the System i, but you can of course edit the
RTF documents in the PC editor of your choice e.g. Word.

InterWord400 has commands VERY simular to the normally used Office
Vision commands so it is easy to change any programs involved.

Contact InterForm for a free trial or a demo.

Yes, I am working for InterForm, which is selling this product ;-)
