Sorry - there is no free simulator. The only thing which you can call an
AS/400 simulator is Baby/400, and this costs lots of $$$.

There are some more-or-less expensive services on the net, where you can
lease an account on a public machine. But this has the disadvantage, that
you have to be online to do something.

Sorry, that a cannot help you.

Bye

Hi

Why don't you try ediconsulting.com, they offers FREE access to their
AS/400 (iSeries) computer? I use it.

Alexander,
I am not aware of such a product. Given the complexity of OS/400 I
would be shocked if such a product did exist. OS/400 is not Windows or
Linux. You would be best served to rent time on an AS/400.

An AS/400 is just a processor, memory, bus, controllers etc same as
any other computer - look at the complexity of the Amiga - that can be
emulated no problem. There's even VAX emulators. Only a matter of time
I say.

That said, I am not aware of an AS400 emulator :-(

There used to be a 3rd-party product called "Baby 38" and then, I think
"Baby 400" that was a PC environment that would support execution of
some RPG and CL code. It wasn't an emulator -- the RPG was compiled to
be targeted to the PC and the CL was interpreted IIRC. Some support of
a small subset of the 38/400 execution environment in terms of files,
libraries, etc.

Don't know if it's still available.

When we had S/36 we migrated to using unix and had our s/36 product running
(a temporary thing) in an environment called UNIBOL. At the time they also
has a Unibol/400 product. It ran any many flavours of Linux and by all
accounts was a great product, but wasnt cheap. It differed from Baby/36 in
that it compiled your RPG programs to native unix C binaries. The programs
ran extremely fast.

Based on my memory Im sure the AS/400 is probably cheaper these days.
