This lovely printer is a copier, fax and printer. I was told by the
technician that it should be handled like an HP4 printer.

I created a Host Table entry for the printer and am able to ping the
DP3580 with either the IP address or host table name from the AS/400.
I, then, created a Remote Output Queue using the *HP4 and a previously
made Host Print Transform file called HP4. (Note: I have set up other
HP4 printers with JetDirect cards with no problems.)

Anyway, when I release a spool file in the Remote Outq, the file goes
into SND status and stays that way FOREVER. No output is ever printed
on the DP3580 nor it there any error indicated.

If anyone has any ideas or any experience with this monster, I would be
greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time.

I have the same problem with an Xerox DT65 printer.
This high capicity printer use an stand alone UNIX SUN (printer) server.

My AS/400 see also the IP adress of the Xerox printer. AND I I configured
just like as my other HP8100 printer.

When I send a print to the printer; the printer do not
responding. When I send it to an other Xerox printer N24
the printer do well responding.

Are my settings of mine outq not correct ?!

Scott, Have checked the TCP/IP timeout values in the network interface
card of your DP3580? Have you looked at the joblog of the remote writer's
job? Have you set the value 'XAUTOQ' into the DESTOPT parameter of the
output queue? Have you set the correct RMTPRTQ name? Do you have the
latest PTFs for program QTMPLPRC in library QTCP? Do you have the latest
microcode for your network interface card?

Typically the "stuck in SND status" is due to timeout issues with the
printer. Timeouts can be due to MANY things even a slow network (although
that is usually NOT the problem). Usually the problem is the IP timeout
value in your network card in the printer. This should be set to as large
a value as you can for your environment. You also should make sure that
you have a decent enough amount of memory in your *SPOOL main memory
storage pool. 2M is a good place to start, assuming you have enough
memory to spare.

Hi Scott
You have to find out the LPD queue name of Toshiba's NIC
Is a NIC in it, or do you use an external print server ?
Print the NIC status page and search for TCP queue or a default NIC name
If you find anything like that, put this in your outq
This name is case sensitive, type in like that example.
RMTPRTQ 'nicname'
Another method is: login with FTP and try: get config
search in this ascii file for the requested queu name, sometimes also Telnet
is
helpfull and offers more details.
Hope this is helpful
Kind regards
Achim
