I have V3R7 with CA V3R1M3.
I have a 120 kb txt file, no CR/LF in it, just logical 128 character
structure.
I FTP it to the AS400 with put c:\temp\dtaus.txt translib/x128.
X128 was created with crtpf length=128, not by DDS description.

Problem: about 2/3 of the file is inserted correctly, then there is a
message
426-Records written...have been truncated. data in file may not be
valid.

The record limit of the file is far away. I inspected the txt file,
there are only blanks (x20) at the break point. It doesn't stop at the
same point each time.

Anyone knows this and knows what to do?

Thank You
Walter

Walter,
I would try to FTP to the QDLS file system with the FTP mode set to binary.
After the file is in the QDLS
system you can then use the CPYFRMSTMF command to convert it to EBCDIC and
copy it into an
AS/400 file.

Walter, as far as I know the AS/400 either needs a file format description
for the data to be transfered like it created when you use a file transfer
tool like it is shipped personal communications or you insert cr/lf chars at
the end of each line and use the ftp command ASCII befor you start the PUT to
your AS/400. The target machine converts the data automatically

Try a binary transfer to an IFS directory and then in the FTP script use
RCMD to CPYFRMSTMF or (CPYFRMIMPF or CPYFRMPCD) to your database file
specifying that your stream file uses no record separators.

Have you tried to PUT the file *WITHOUT* creating any PF in the AS/400???
It's supposed that the "PUT" subcommand must create the file, if it doesn't
exist.....

I made the experience that a pf-dta file is being created automatically... I
found it out when I first tried to restore a savf-file using ftp...

Well...
With savf's you MUST create the object first....
If not, it will be created as PF-DTA, without letting you use it to restore
info.

Have you tried to "break" the file in smallest pieces???
