Hello
We are finding that the QAS400NT user profile is disabled every morning
after an IPL. Have checked the obvious . . .ie passwords on both iSeries
and windows server are the same and not expired. I cannot find any
reference to this problem in the network server manual so am wondering if
anyone has an idea what might be causing this.

Thanks
Colin

In nearly every case, this is caused by password problems. I have
seen this before, and in each case I eventually found a windows server
that was using an old or incorrect password. Check and printer
emulation sessions and NetServer logons especially. You may be able
to find it using DSPLOG. The hard part is that Windows logged on
without errors, but when it goes to print or write to the AS400 (esp.
the IFS) it would fail, retry, fail,... until disabled. You don't see
any error on the Windows machine.

One other thing: some systems have problems if you are using "short
passwords" option enabled, have an NT/2K/XP windows and a password
with mixed case. Try a password that is all caps, or no caps. Even
though the iSeries is "ignoring" case, this can (and does) occur.
